The fourth generation family-owned company credits cheese for its years of success and is a new “Slice of Wisconsin” feature
A Wisconsin company is celebrating more than 100 years of crafting gourmet cheese boxes and earning a world record for its efforts.
Dufeck Wood Products is a fourth generation family-owned business based in Denmark, a small village in Northeast Wisconsin.
The company started in 1905, selling building supplies in the summer, while logging in the state’s north woods during the winter. By 1912, the family decided to shift its manufacturing focus to other wood products. It’s also when they started crafting special boxes. These are food safe to both age and ship large wheels of cheese around the world. The boxes can also be reused or recycled.
But there’s another Dufeck wood product getting attention due to the new world record it recently set.
A company social media post indicates the title for the largest charcuterie board ever made was broken during an October, 2023 event in Palm Beach, Florida. Dufeck partnered with Boarderie and a few other charcuterie-based businesses to create the masterpiece holding 760 pounds of gourmet cheese goodness. The 20 feet by 14 feet board now holds a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records!
The Dufeck’s story is a huge “Slice of Wisconsin.”
